Coincidentally, I've got advice on this very same topic queued up to post on Foursquare Baltimore tomorrow. One thing I thought you might care to add...

For best results, foursquare support suggests that after you unlink your Facebook account, you log out of BOTH accounts, then log back into foursquare and relink them (and logging back into Facebook in the process). Certainly, users may have success without logging out of the two accounts, but of course, it never hurts to make every step!

Re: I Want That Badge: Super Duper Swarm and Epic Swarm

We never hit an Epic Swarm. I will say that, on days where I get close or have actually reached 30 check-ins, I really did not have a lot of intersection check-ins. I might have had one at a major traffic jam location in order to help warn others about the traffic on a Saturday (especially if my Waze is acting up), but I tend to explore the area as much as I can. Think about this, if you are out and about for 10 hours of the day, that is 3 check-ins per hours (once per 20 minutes). In whole, that seems like a bunch, but it really is not. If you are going to a mall on a Saturday for a few hours and then head down to a game or event, you will rack up check-ins without even really trying! Imagine if you had a few check-ins the Friday evening before too; now, you are in a pickle because the counter does not reset at the stroke of midnight or 3am! Sure, this is not a daily thing, and I am unsure what number would be best (to me, 50 would seem like a lot), and we do not want to encourage people to jump or simply check-in at each corner or create venues for inappropriate or invalid things.

Certainly, with 4sqDay coming up soon, my excitement is rising; Elaine and I (4sqLoveStory) are anxious to explore the area, check-in to new places, see what specials are going on, have some great lunch and dinner, and then head down to downtown Atlanta for the celebration! As you can see, I will have to worry about my Friday evening and Saturday check-ins under the 30 rule, unless I want to purposely put myself into timeout for a bit! It's just fun and a little food for thought! I do appreciate your thoughts and completely agree about how there is little need to check-in to too many (as you put it) lame venues!

Re: Unlock the Check-in Limit!

There is no valid reason to check in more than 30 times a day. No one does 30 legitimate activities in 1 day. Unless you're checking into "lame" venues like intersections or streets or bathrooms.

Re: You Asked & Mayor Ballard Listened: 4/16/11 in Indianapolis is Proclaimed Foursquare Day

thank you.
